A desperate appeal has been made by the Derry family of a man who has been missing for a week.Dean Patton (24), was last seen in his home town of Portrush last Tuesday afternoon and has not contacted family of friends since.

His father John, from Creggan’s Eastway Gardens in Derry, and mother Linda are growing increasingly worried about their son.His aunt Helen Patton, from Kylemore Park in Derry, told the ‘Journal’ that Dean attended a party in Portrush last Monday night. “He was last seen in the town at around 3pm on Tuesday afternoon. After that there was no sign of him and no one has heard from him. It’s completely out of character for Dean.”

She said that his family are fearing for Dean’s safety. “We’re so scared now, we’re all lokking at each other for answers but there are no answers. We’re fearing the worst but hoping for the best.”

Police checks have revealed that Dean has not withdrawn any money from his bank account, telephoned anyone or returned to to the flat which he moved into from his parents’ home just two weeks prior to his disappearance.

His aunt Helen said she believes Dean is safe. “Everything seemed fine with him, there were no alarm bells for anyone. Doubts and fears creep up on you but in my gut I think that he is ok.”

Family members, friends and relatives are erecting hundreds of posters of Dean around Northern Ireland in the hope that someone may have information on his whereabouts.

Search and rescue teams have carried out searches of the Portrush coastline in an effort to locate the missing man.
