A local businessman has pleaded guilty to assaulting his wife.

Louis McLoughlin, whose address was given on court papers as Limavady Road, admitted further charges of making a threat to kill and possession of a knife.

The charges relate to an incident on June 2, last year.

The 55-year-old had initially denied the charges. However, today, as his trial was due to begin, he applied to be rearraigned.

Sentencing was adjourned for a probation pre-sentence report to be compiled.

McLoughlin was released on continuing bail and will appear in court again on March 8.
