Falsely reported his car was stolen

A man has pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice, by falsely reporting to police that his car was stolen.

Colin Creane, of Dunhugh Manor, Newbuildings, admitted driving whilst disqualified, having no insurance and failing to report an accident.

The offences were committed on the Woodside Road on October 11, 2011.

He entered the plea after a jury had been sworn to try the case.

The court heard the 39-year-old has relevant convictions.

Sentencing was adjourned for a probation pre-sentence report.

Creane was released on continuing bail to appear in court again on November 30.

Releasing the jury, Judge Devlin thanked them for their attendance.
