Green light for Derry Christmas Market bar

editorial image

Plans for a bar at a Christmas market in Derry during the festive period have been given the go ahead.

The move came at a sitting of Derry Magistrate’s Court today after opposing sides agreed a deal.

Local publicans had expressed concerns over the bar at the market saying the granting of a licence could lead to a loss in their trade.

Resident Magistrate Barney McElholm congratulated both sides on reaching agreement.

The market, complete with bar, is to run from December 1 to 22 at Guildhall Square
