Man (29) in court accused of stealing bottles of alcohol

A 29 year-old man has appeared in Derry Magistrate’s Court charged with stealing alcohol from two different stores in the city centre on December 6.

Stephen McCarron of Moyola Drive is charged with stealing a bottle of Peach Schnapps worth £8.99 from Supervalu at Waterloo Place and a bottle of Vodka, from Tesco at Strand Road.

He faces a further charge of obstructing a police officer on the same date.

The court was told that CCTV footage was available.

McCarron was released on his own bail of £350 to appear again on January 31. His bail was conditional on him not being intoxicated in any public place and not entering any shopping centre or retail outlet in the city centre.
