Man accused of drugs offences at Derry court

A 24-year-old man is to stand trial at Derry Crown Court accused of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Gary Eamon McClintock, whose address was given on court papers as Dundrean Park, faces two charges of possessing the class B drug with intent to supply on January 30.

He is further charged with simple possession of cannabis on the same date.

During a brief hearing at the local magistrates court, the 24-year-old confirmed he understood the charges against him.

He declined to say anything in answer to them or to call any evidence on his own behalf, replying “not at this stage”.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott accepted there is a prima facie case for McClintock to answer.

The 24-year-old was released on continuing bail and will appear at the crown court for arraignment on October 18.
