A Limavady man has appeared in court accused of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

Oswald Alexander Young, of Roeview Park, faces a total of seven drugs offences relating to a search of his home on October 12.

He faces a further charge of obstructing the police during the search, in which cannabis and benzodiazepines were allegedly found.

An investigating officer told Derry Magistrates Court that when police entered Young’s home he seemed to “grab something and put it in his mouth”.

The officer said it was a small black object which police suspect was cannabis resin. However during interview the 40-year-old claimed it was a bourbon biscuit.

Opposing bail, the officer said Young is currently on licence for similar offences and has other drugs convictions.

He said police believe the 40 year-old has “resumed his drug dealing activites”.

Refusing bail, District Judge Barney McElholm said there was a clear risk of further offences.

Young was remanded in custody and will appear in court again via videolink on Nov. 8.
