Men jailed for attempting to kick off wing mirrors

Two men who tried to kick wing mirrors off cars in the city centre have been jailed for three months.

Daniel Kelly, (24) of Osbourne Street and 21-year-old Jamie O’Hagan, of St Eithne’s Park, pleaded guilty to attempted criminal damage on July 10.

Kelly also admitted disorderly behaviour, assaulting and resisting police in relation to an incident in Chapel Road on January 18.

O’Hagan admitted a further charge of criminal damage by urinating on a carpet belongin to the Clipper Quay Management Company on January 24.

Defence solicitor Keith Kyle said both men have a “keen interest in alcohol” and that is the cause of most of the convictions on their criminal records.

Imposing the three month jail terms, District Judge Barney McElholm ordered Kelly and O’Hagan to pay an offender levy of £25.
