Attempt to abduct 15 year-old

A 15 year-old screamed for help as two men tried to drag her into a car in Strabane, it's been revealed.

Police yesterday released details of the terrifying ordeal which was reported to them on Wednesday but took place on August 15.

The incident happened at Tristan Road on the outskirts of Strabane as the teenager was walking from a friend's house.

A car, described as being a small red Peugeot, stopped near her and the driver grabbed hold of her.

He tried to pull her into the car but she struggled and screamed. A second man also tried to grab her, but she managed to run off. Two other men were in the back seat of the vehicle.

A PSNI spokesperson described the would-be abductors: "The driver of the car is described as being aged about 19 or 20, of a slim build, with short, black hair, shaved at the sides. He had a gold stud ring in his left ear and spoke with a country accent.

"The other man who struggled with the girl was tall and well built and about the same age as the driver. He had a long scar on the back of his right hand.

"Two other men were in the back of the car but were wearing hooded tops."

The police spokesperson urged anyone who recognises the description and can help identify the men to call CID in Strabane. The number to call is 0845 600 8000 or anonymously at Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
