Book of condolence for Constable Philippa Reynolds

A book of condolence in memory of the police officer killed on Saturday morning is to be opened in Derry today.

Derry’s Mayor Kevin Campbell has also written to Constable Philippa Reynolds’ family to express the sincere condolences of the people of Derry and will be attending her funeral later in the week.

“On behalf of the citizens of our City, I wish to express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Constable Reynolds. I would also like to convey my sympathy to her colleagues in the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

“It’s a tragic loss of a young life and the entire community is deeply shocked and saddened. Her family members are in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time,” he added.

Constable Reynolds, 27, from the Greater Belfast area, died when the unmarked car she was travelling in was hit by a stolen 4x4, at Dales Corner.

The Book of Condolence will be open from today until Saturday at the Tower Museum from 10 am to 5pm and at the Waterside Library, Glendermott Road during usual opening times.
