Buses attacked in Galliagh
It’s understood that Translink were last night forced to withdraw part of a service operating in the Galliagh area after two separate attacks on buses. Police have confirmed that one person sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment following yesterday’s attack.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “At approximately 4pm on Friday a bus travelling in the Fairview Road area had a window smashed.
“Police received a further report of a bus having its window smashed on Saturday whilst travelling in the Bloomfield Park area at approximately 3 pm.
A Translink spokesperson said the route would be curtailed “until further notice.” It’s now understood that buses will be restricted to the area from the Slievemore Roundabout to Bradley’s Pass until further notice.
Sinn Fein Colr. Tony Hassan has condemned the attacks and told the Sunday Journal:
“This has been a problem for the past two weeks and we believe that those involved are young teenagers and parents need to step up to the mark and be aware of where their children are. In the meantime, people in Galliagh will have to walk to the Glengalliagh road to get a bus and that’s unacceptable.”
