City stars act the candy men in online Harlem Shake craze

editorial image

A video of the Derry City squad getting in on the latest internet craze has been watched an incredible 15,000 times in just one day.

The player’s take on Harlem Shake - an electro dance track by New York DJ Baauer which has spawned countless online videos - was posted on Youtube on Sunday, and within just a few hours had wracked up thousands of views.

Lasting only 49 seconds, the video features most of the Candystripes first team squad and begins with midfielder Barry Molloy entering the dressing room to launch an angry tirade at the seemingly downbeat squad.

But within seconds - as the nature of the craze dictates - the room erupts, and the players adopt various states of undress, when the song’s chorus kicks in.

Renowned for their moves on the pitch, it is difficult to say if those skills transfer to the dressing room dance floor. Like all good dance troupes however, the players utilise a number of props in their routine, including a toilet brush, traffic cone and several toilet rolls.

You can watch the video via this link.

Viewers should be advised the video contains some strong language and partial nudity.
