Fake goods - including counterfeit jewellery and perfume - worth around £10,000 have been seized by police in Derry.

Police say they seized the goods, which included including Pandora jewellery and perfume gift sets after a white van was searched in the Top of the Hill area of the city’s Waterside on November 16.

A 33 year old man was arrested.

Police say people should be on the look out for fake goods in the run up to Christmas.

Inspector Yvonne McManus said, “These goods appear genuine but in reality customers are buying cheap imitations. Police are committed to creating an environment in Northern Ireland which supports legitimate traders and brings the full force of the law to bear on those criminals dealing in counterfeit goods.”

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the making or distributing of counterfeit goods to contact police on 0845 600 8000 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
