Date set for ordination of Mons. Martin as Coadjutor Archbishop
Mons. Eamon Martin
Derry’s Diocesan Administrator Monsignor Eamon Martin will be ordained as Coadjutor Archbishop of Armagh on April 21, the ‘Journal’ can reveal.
The ordination ceremony will take place at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh at 3pm.
Mons. Martin is poised to take on the role of Primate of All Ireland upon the retirement of Cardinal Sean Brady, which is expected within the next two years.
Speaking to the ‘Journal’ last week after his appointment as Coadjutor Archbishop was announced, Mons. Martin said: “My role is to be a servant of people. No one person can do everything, what you have to do is be a facilitator of people.
“In the church there are a lot of very good people of all ages who have a huge amount to give and perhaps we need to invite them a little bit more and let them realise that it’s their church and that they have a huge contribution to make.”
