Derry City’s biggest fan lifts the FAI Cup
A life-long supporter of Derry City FC was overjoyed when the team arranged for the FAI Cup to be brought to his home last week.
80 years-old Alexander Arbuckle, who has been battling cancer and recently underwent surgery, likes to think of himself as Derry’s biggest fan.
He has to attend Belfast City Hospital for radiotherapy in the next week. However, his son Patrick said his dad was thrilled to have the Cup in the house, adding that the team sent Alexander a Get Well Soon card when he was in hospital.
“It really cheered him up big time. My Dad has been a life-time Derry City supporter and he has always been involved and followed and supported our local junior football as well. He managed Clooney Rovers and TOTH Celtic when we lived in the Waterside.”
