Derry peacemaker in Middle East visit
Derry businessman Brendan Duddy is currently in the Middle East to take part in a peace conference involving delegates from Israel and Palestine.
Mr Duddy, who acted as a go-between with the IRA and the British government in a bid to end violence in the North, has been involved in peace-making efforts in the Middle East for a number of years.
Today he will meet Rabbi Menachem Froman, the chief rabbi of the Occupied Territories, who organises meetings between Palastinians and Jews.
The documentary made about Mr Duddy's involvement in the peace process, 'The Secret Peacemaker' will be screened at the conference tonight followed by a question and answers session where Mr Duddy will explain how his experiences in Ireland could help the Middle East. More than 350 people are registered to attend the event.
Mr Duddy has been invited to attend a second peace conference in Ramot in the Golan Heights next week.
