Derry man is Bachelor Boy

One lucky Derry man has been named as a finalist in Sydney’s St Patrick’s Day, Irish Bachelor of the year competition.
Paddy Walshe is among the 11 finalists contesting this weekend’s competition.
On Saturday Sydney’s Irish bachelors will compete in the Sydney Street, St. Patrick’s Day Bachelor of the Year Awards competition, which is a key fundraising event for the annual St Patrick’s Day Parade and Family Day.
The twenty one year-old Mr. Walshe moved to Australia six months ago, where he currently works as a full time electrician and part-time DJ. Paddy will tell judges that music is one of his many passions along with keeping fit and taking helicopter lessons.
Having moved to Australia on; “the spur of the moment,” Paddy decided one Tuesday night to look into getting a visa and booking his one-way ticket that Saturday.
Although enjoying the lifestyle Sydney offers, family man Paddy said he misses “his family and his muckers” back home in Derry and says that nothing compares to the craic of a night out here.
Paddy, will have to strut his stuff in front of a live audience of more than 300 guests who will watch him be interviewed and have to showcase his choosen talent for a panel of judges including veteran Sydney St Patrick’s Day Bachelor of the Year judge Home and Away actor Lynn McGranger, Sydney’s Irish radio personality Tina King, retired radio host Michael Lyons and Sydney Swans star, Irish footballer, Tommy Walsh.
