“Disgusting” attack on pet cat in Rosemount

A Rosemount women has spoken out following a “disgusting” attack on her pet cat.

Two and a half year-old house pet, Lucy, suffered a broken jaw after being let outside for just a few minutes on Saturday evening.

Angry owner Jemma McLaughlin has blamed young thugs for her pet’s injuries which were received yards from her home at 11 Florence Street.

“Youths booted her in the face and broke her jaw, I just wanted to let people know what they get up to by reporting the attack.

“I let her out to go to the toilet at around 6.30pm to the toilet and no sooner was she out than she was back again with the injury.”

She added: “This was a disgusting attack on a defenceless animal.”

Police in Derry are appealing for information following a report of a cat being injured in the Rosemount area.

Sometime last weekend it’s believed a young cat was kicked causing injuries including a broken jaw.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information to contact them on 0845 600 8000 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
