Dublin groom for Buncrana bride

The beautiful wedding took place recently of Killian Fitzgerald and Helen McLaughlin in St. Mary's Oratory.

The ceremony was performed by Fr. John Walsh. Helen is the daughter of Michael and the late Lulu McLaughlin, Castle Avenue and Killian is the son of Jim and Collette Fitzgerald, Sutton, Dublin. The best man was Peter Leonard, and the groomsmen were Ronan Fitzgerald and Donagh Fitzgerald, brothers of the groom.The bridesmaids were Kathleen McColgan, sister of the bride and Siobhan McLaughlin and Jennifer McLaughlin cousins of the bride. The reception was held in the Ballyliffin Lodge, Ballyliffin and the honeymoon was spent in Majorca. The couple live in Pimlico, London.

The Old Illies School closed its doors in 1997 after 160 years of service to the community. Ownie Kelly filmed the last day of teaching at the school and along with Hugh Quirke has prduced a DVD of the commemoration. The DVD is available from the school, cost 15 euro and the proceeds will go to the school.

A fundraising dance in aid of Donegal Hospice and Cancer Research will take place this evening at 10 p.m. in An Grianan Hotel, Burt in memory of the late Gary McLaughlin and Darren Downey, who lost their lives in a road traffic collision last year. More than 1,000 tickets have been sold for the event which will feature music from the Squealing Pigs. Compere for the night is Billy Carlin. There will also be a grand charity auction and a raffle will also be held and with spot prizes and a door prize for a 500 euro voucher. Your support would be appreciated.
