Fishy discovery at Country Park
Archaeologists from across the UK believe they may have found an "ornamental fish pond" near O'Cahan's Rock in Limavady.
A team of archaeologists were at the Roe Valley County Park last week studying the site of a late medieval castle.
The archaeologists are from the from the University of Leicester, Queen's University, Belfast, and the Northern Ireland Environment Agency.
Queen's University archaeologists have been conducting a geophysical survey, using electronic instruments to detect buried archaeological features.
"Their results have yet to be fully processed, but there are already promising indications, suggesting the likely underground survival of an ornamental fish pond and defensive walls enclosing the site," said a DoE spokesperson.
The Roe Valley Country Park, maintained by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, is a popular attraction, with thousands of visitors each year.
