Get your car washed and help the scouts

To celebrate 100 years of Scouting in Ireland a special merit badge has been commissioned and will be awarded to all Scouts & Senior Cubs (that is Cubs who will be moving to Scouts after the summer break) who participate in any local scouting event that exceeds 100 tasks.

The scouts will host a fundraising Car Wash Extravaganza, on Saturday 28th June, in Supervalu Car park, Malin Road, Carndonagh from 10am - 5pm We NEED the Support of the Whole Community

Inishowen Tourism are organising a trip of the Peninsula's attractions and historical areas on the 28th June leaving at 9.30am outside the Tourist Office, at the Diamond, Carndonagh and returning around 5pm. The fee for this outing is 25 euro, which includes refreshments and lunch. Dessie McCallion is our tour guide. To book a seat or for further information tel 93 74933.

Twelve host families are still required to host Spanish students (11-16yrs) who will arrive on July 1st for 4 weeks. Families, single people and those who live outside Carn can apply. Hosts will receive an allowance of 180 euro per week. Please contact Ailish on 93 74938 immediately if interested.

Junior Heroes' is a Holiday Club for children of National School age. The Club will be run in the new Greenbank Hall at Quigley's Point from Monday 30th June to Friday 4th July. The times are 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The Club will include drama, crafts, puppets, singing, stories and much, much more. All children of National School age are very welcome.

For teens there will be a week of fun and entertainment with the Exodus Youth Team in the new Greenbank Hall at Quigley's Point from Saturday 5th July for one week. Events will include cinema, 10 pin bowling, beach, music and barbecue. The week begins with 'Strong Words' (a group of body builders) on Saturday 5th July at 7pm at Greenbank Hall. All teens are very welcome.

Inishowen Agricultural Society 96th Annual Show will take place on Saturday 19th July in the Show grounds at Tulnaree, Carndonagh. Entries can be made in the following classes: Horses, Donkeys, Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Dogs, Butter, Eggs, Honey, Fruit, Vegetables, Flowers, Pot Plants, Cakes, Scones, Home Industries and Children's Pet Show, dog show. Inishowen Development Partnership are currently taking names from women interested in doing the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) training programme which will commence in September 2008. This programme is suitable for any woman who wants to develop her skills and knowledge of computers. The programme will run for 32 weeks and will involve a commitment of 1 day a week for 2 hours. Each programme will have a minimum of 13 participants and will be held in a number of locations in the Peninsula, subject to demand. This course is completely free and due to the limited number of places available, selection for participation on this course will be by application form only.
