Glengad's St Patricks Day Parade

A parade will take place on St. Patrick's Day in Glengad. The parade will assemble in the car park at the Fisherman's Inn at 2.30pm. sharp.

This is a walking parade and will finish at the Community Centre, Glengad where there will be entertainment and refreshments. Everyone is welcome.

Congratulations to Glengad Youth Club on their all Ireland win in the variety competation at Maynooth on Sunday last. Catherine Smyth, Eimear Mc Colgan and Claire Doherty came first in the group singing and Annah Quigley backed by Niamh Quigley was runner up in the solo singing . Well done girls. Also congratulations to Malin Head Youth Club girls Bredge Gallagher and Cloe Mc Laughlin who were runners up in the spotlight section.

Anyone interested in hosting a Lenten Station in their home is asked to contact either of the priests with your choice of time and day. Station Mass will be held to-night Friday in the home of Kathleen Doherty, Leitir at 8pm and Friday 20th March Celia Doherty, Slieveban, Malin Head at 8pm.

A great new bus services have been announced by Inishowen Rural Transport at the Inishowen Development Partnership. From March 9, a bus will leave Inishowen every Monday at 6am to arrive in Letterkenny in time to connect with buses going to Dublin at 7am. It is hoped this will facilitate students and others who travel to Dublin regularly. A bus will also leave from Letterkenny to Inishowen between 8pm and 9pm (approx) on Monday and again on Friday evening. It is anticipated this will suit students returning home from college for the weekend. Booking is essential. Clonmany Agricultural Show Committee is holding a Monster Bingo session on Sunday next March 15th at 3pm in The Ballyliffin Hotel. Card playing continues in the hotel on Monday evenings from 8.30pm

A social in aid of Donegal Hospice will take place in Hillhead Church Hall, Carndonagh on Friday March 27th. Music is by the Country Boys. Tickets are 6euro including supper. Dancing is from 10pm-2am.

Enrolment forms for children who intend going to Scoil Cholmcille, Ballymena in September are now available in the school. Completed forms must be returned to the school on or before Friday 13th March.

Host families in Inishowen are being sought to give children from Chernobyl a three week holiday in July. Do you think you could give a child from Chernobyl a recuperating holiday? Weekly activities are organised and translators are available at all times. To take a child out of a contaminated area even for a week can boost their immune system up to one year. A bungee Jump will take place on Portmore Pier, Malin Head on Easter Monday and funds will go to Malin Head Community Hall.

A Dance will take place in aid of Alzheimer's Unit, Carndonagh in Ballyliffen Lodge and Spa Hotel on Friday 24th April. Music by Two K Country. Tickets are 10euro each. Contact Gerard Davenport, Convent Road, Carndonagh.

First Communion will take place in St. Patrick's Church, Aughaclay, on Saturday 2nd May at 11am First Communion will take place in the Star of the Sea Church, Malin Head on Saturday 16th May at 11am.

Confirmation will take place in Malin Parish on Tuesday 21st April at 6pm in St. Patrick's Church, Aughaclay.

A Lenten Soup Day will take place in St. Patrick's Hall, Malin Town on Saturday March 21st. This was a huge success last year and we hope it will be a good success again.

A fun quiz has been organized for Farren's Bar, Malin Head . It will take place on Easter Monday night.

The Parish is organizing a pilgrimage to Fatima from 18th-25th June 2009. If anyone is interested please contact Fr. Crowley. This pilgrimage presents us with the opportunity to visit Fatima for three days and the city of Lisbon the birthplace of St. Anthony of Padua. Also four days in Estoril seaside resort. The cost is 809euro for flights, meals and transfers for 7 nights/8days. Savings scheme will begin soon. Those who wish to go on the pilgrimage needs to confirm their place with a 50euro deposit as soon as possible to confirm booking.

Women's competitive football has resumed on Wednesdays at 8pm and on Saturdays at 6pm at the GAA club. Training for U14 girls takes place every Wednesday between 5pm and 6pm.

The Job Club Centre will be starting a new job-seeking programme soon in Moville, Carndonagh and Buncrana. The sessions will take place a few mornings per week.
