Derry’s Cup winning heroes will arrive at Guildhall Square at 7pm tonight, it’s been confirmed.

Derry’s Mayor Kevin Campbell says it’s a great opportunity for the public to show their appreciation to the team.

“It’s a great opportunity for the Derry public to come out and show the team the level of support they have in this city and how incredibly proud we are of the team and their achievements.

“They are great ambassadors for our city and fantastic role models for our young people to look up to,” he said

The Mayor paid tribute to the players, management and background staff and had a special note of praise to the hundreds of Derry fans who travelled to Dublin to support the team.

“It was a great game the atmosphere was electric in the Aviva stadium and the fans really got behind the team.

“I was delighted to be part of the celebrations and to witness such a terrific win and look forward to welcoming the team when they arrive home later today. Let’s hope the people of the city come out and give them the welcome they deserve,” he said.
