‘Gun pointed’ at female driver

Detectives in Derry are appealing for information following an incident in the Killea Road area on Friday morning when a handgun was allegedly pointed at a passing female motorist.

At around 7.30am it was reported that as a woman drove along the Killea Road towards the city a motorcyclist driving in the opposite direction slowed his motorcycle and pointed a suspected handgun in her direction.

A PSNI spokesperson continued: “The motorcyclist, who had a black helmet with a mirrored visor, then proceded along the road in the direction of Co Donegal. The woman was left very shaken by this incident.

“Police would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have noticed any suspicious activity or who has any information to contact CID at Strand Road on 0845 600 8000. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
