Holiday snaps inspired Jacqueline to slim down
This is the Eglinton woman who was so horrified by her holiday snaps that she joined Slimming World and dropped three dress sizes.
Jacqueline McIntyre went from a size 14 to a teeny size eight in just four months - losing two stones seven pounds.
For the past three years, Jacqueline has kept the weight off and was voted her group's Top Target Member 2009.
"When I first joined Slimming World, I thought it would be just another diet," said Jacqueline.
"Food Optimising was completely different. You can eat unlimited amounts of the foods you love, like pasta, rice, potatoes, fruit and vegetables, lean meat and fish, so you never have to be hungry.
"I've been able to keep the weight off for three years by making a choice to continue to Food Optimise. I never feel deprived and enjoy my fab slim figure and my healthier lifestyle. I know I'll stay slim for the rest of my life."
The County Derry woman admits she did little physical activity before losing the weight.
"When I'd lost a few pounds I began to gradually do more, at first just walking for a little bit each day. Now I attend a spinning class in Eglinton a couple of nights each week with my girls and I can really give them a run for their money."
Jacqueline still attends her group every week, which she can do for free while she stays within 3lbs of her target.
She says: "I quickly realised that group support was as important to my success as changing my eating habits – nowadays I wouldn't be without my weekly night out with all my friends at Slimming World. It's still great to know that I've got all that support to keep the weight off."
Her Consultant Maria Jackson, who runs the group, says she is extremely proud of Jacqueline.
"Losing weight is an amazing achievement but maintaining that weight loss is even more of a challenge. She is a busy working mum who makes the time to maintain her healthy lifestyle. It's great that she still comes along to group each week because as well as getting the help she needs, she is a real inspiration to the other members and a friendly face to meet them each week as they weigh in.
