'I want to marry in Derry', says Nadine
Derry singer Nadine Coyle last night told the 'Journal' she'd love to marry her American fiance Jason Bell in her home town.
The 25 years-old, who was in the Tesco Antrim store to promote her new single 'Insatiable', said Jason was "all into the idea."
"He's even been asking when his family can book their flights to come over and see Derry," said Nadine. "I haven't even started thinking about the wedding yet. I would love to get married in Derry, whatever happens the wedding will definitely be in Ireland."
Speaking yesterday to the 'Journal' on a flying visit to Northern Ireland, Nadine said a trip to Derry would have been lovely, but impossible.
"I would love to have come to Derry," she said, "but I've barely had time to wash my face it's been so busy and I'm flying out again tonight, it's just not going to happen."
Meanwhile Tesco who are exclusively selling Nadine's new single said the Derry store was just not large enough to cope with the crowds expected to turn out for Nadine.
For the past week Nadine has appeared on high profile shows such as 'The Late Late' and 'Paul O'Grady.'
"I'm sick looking at myself," she said.
She's also received her fair share of negative press, some who described her single as a flop after it only managed to get to Number 26 in the UK charts. Some of the press have also had a go at her new Americanised accent.
But Nadine says she takes it all in her stride.
"That's the job of the press," she said. "That's what they do and there's nothing offensive to it. I'm really happy with the way everything has gone. Here I am at 25 years-old with my own record label, writing my own songs and a big team of people with me. I'm having a great time, sometimes I can't believe it's all true.
"As for my accent, I have a Derry accent that's it. Who cares what it sounds like?"
For her round of interviews in England and Northern Ireland, Nadine has been accompanied by mum Lilian.
"It's great having my Mammy with me," she said. "The family all live over in Los Angeles and come back and forward. They're all doing great. We had planned that we were going to spend Christmas in Derry this year.
"I'll have to see what happens. I'm heading back to LA this week, back to my fiance and the family. I've a week off and then I'm back working again."
Nadine says while she hadn't heard Derry is getting a third bridge she's hoping to be back here soon, and perhaps even do something for the City of Culture.
