“I TRIED TO SAVE ANDY”

The distraught partner of murder victim Andrew Allen has told friends how she tried to save his life just minutes after gunmen fired through a window at the pair’s home in Buncrana, killing the 24-year-old Top of the Hill man.
Speaking on a social networking site, Arlene Farrelly told a family member she couldn’t believe what had happened.
“I have never seen so much blood in all my life,” she said. “I tried to give him CPR but it didn’t work. It was like slow motion.”
Ms. Farrelly said Mr. Allen - a father of two - had done nothing wrong. “They killed him for nothing,” she said.
On Friday car loads of relatives congregated at the murder scene at Links View Park, Buncrana, laying flowers at the scene and paying tribute to the man who they have described as “a selfless gentleman.”

Mr. Allen’s aunt, Patricia Allen, wept at the scene and told relatives: “No family should have to go through this, it’s not fair.”
Close family friend, Kenny Ferguson, broke down as he paid tribute to the man who he said had been like a brother to him.
“We grew up together our whole lives,” he said.
“Andy was a total gentleman, that’s just that. He would have done anything for anybody and he did so much for me. He was a great father to Katie and Lochlann and a great son and father. He was always there for everybody and he’ll be so badly missed. The people who did this to him are scum. They’ve left two children without a daddy,” he added.

Mr. Allen’s death has been blamed on a vigilante republican group who forced him out of his home in the Waterside six months ago. However, at the time of going to press last night no group had claimed responsibility for the killing.
Mr. Allen will be buried tomorrow in Altnagelvin Cemetery following 10am Requiem Mass in St. Columba’s Church, Long Tower.
