In Pictures: How Derry City claimed FAI Cup glory
Derry’s MP has paid tribute to the city’s triumphant FAI Cup winners.
Mark Durkan who attended the match with his wife Jackie and daughter Dearbhail, said:“I was delighted to be there on a great occasion for Derry in the fantastic Aviva Stadium.
“I am also delighted for Declan Devine and his team who have so many young, home-grown players.
“It was a great, competitive match and not one for the faint-hearted.
“As well as being a splendid and memorable victory for Derry, it was a great advertisement for the game and will be well-reputed in the football annals.

“I would also commend the fans for their good spirit, good humour and good behaviour.
“The team’s brilliance and resilience not only returns the FAI trophy to Derry but also brings Derry City back into European football competition with all that that offers the club and its fans.”
Sinn Fein MEP Martina Anderson, who was also at the game, hailed the Candystripes “great achievement.”
“I would like to congratulate the team, manager Declan Devine and all the backroom staff on winning the FAI Cup Final .
“This a great achievement for the club. Special mention must go also to the thousands of supporters who travelled down to Dublin to support the team.
