LISTEN NOW: Derry snapped from space as Danny Boy recorded in orbit

A Canadian astronaut has marked St Patrick’s day in space by recording a version of Danny Boy - and snapping pics of Derry and Inishowen.

Commander Chris Hadfield, whose currently on board the International Space Station, delighted his thousands of Twitter followers on Sunday with a series of St Patrick’s Day pics - including “Derry, Northern Ireland, and the rugged coast facing the North Atlantic” and another pic of Donegal, “one of the many famous places I’ve only seen from space.”

And his north west influenced space tweets dint’s stop there - he even took to the mic to mark our national day with a inter stellar rendition of ‘Danny Boy’

He tweeted:””Danny Boy strikes home with me, now more than ever. I’ve recorded a version for today in orbit,”
