Loyalist protests have been planned across Derry’s Waterside for this evening.

The Journal understands protests are to be held in Newbuildings, Drumahoe, Crescent Link, Nelson Drive, Craigavon bridge and Glendermott Road from 6pm as part of protests across the north dubbed ‘Operation Standstill’.

Protests are being arranged through social networking sites as far ahead as January 27, despite repeated calls for them to stop.

Earlier this week, protestors gathered outside the new office of Sinn Fein MEP Martina Anderson on Wednesday night.

On Thursday Unionist politicians and a number of prominent loyalists gathered at Stormont in the first meeting of the Unionist Forum.

Leaders said the meeting had been very positive and head of the UUP Mike Nesbitt added that there were plans for members of the forum to “get out and hit the ground” on Friday.
