Maintenance work to close Foyle bridge lanes

Maintenance work will see lane closures on Derry’s Foyle bridge next week.

The Department of Regional Development say the lane closures will allow £45K of improvement work to be carried out.

A spokesman said:”Roads Service will be undertaking necessary repair and upgrading work which include repairs to safety barriers, surface repairs as well as some improvements to the drainage arrangements at a cost of £45k.

“Some of the work requires a curing period when traffic needs to be excluded from driving on the surfaces for up to a week, otherwise the work could fail and it would need to redone.

“The lane closures will take place on Monday 4 March to Friday 15 March.

“This work requires one lane of the westbound carriageway to be closed from 4 -11 March to be followed with a lane closure on the eastbound carriage until 15 March.

“Roads Service understands this work will lead to some minor delays at peak periods and asks drivers to allow additional time for their journeys and thank them for their patience until the completion of the works.”
