PSNI detectives investigating two murders, including the killing of a Catholic builder from Dungiven more than 12 years ago, have arrested a man in England.

Gary Thomas Moore, a 30-year-old father-of-two, was shot dead on December 6, 2000, as he worked on a building site on the predominantly loyalist Monkstown housing estate in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

Gavin Brett, an 18-year-old student, was shot dead in Glengormley, Co Antrim, on July 29, 2001, as he stood chatting to a group of Catholic and Protestant friends close to the entrance to St Enda’s Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club.

PSNI officers, assisted by officers from West Midlands Police, today arrested a 32-year-old man. He is currently being questioned at a police station in England.
