Man to appear in court on bomb charges

A 30 year-old man has been charged in connection with the discovery of bombs at a flat in Derry this week.
Police this evening confirmed that the man has been charged with possession of explosives with intent to endanger life or cause damage to property, and possession of articles for purpose connected with the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism.
He is due to appear at Derry Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Thursday).
A PSNI spokesperson said: “As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.”
The charges are in relation to explosives found at residential premises at Maureen Avenue in Derry on Monday evening.
A number of residents in the area were evacuated from their homes during the security alert and ensuing forensic examination of the scene which ended on Tuesday afternoon.
