Stormont Minister Nelson McCausland has announced that Ilex Urban Regeneration Company has lodged an outline planning application for the re-development of the 14 acre Fort George site in Derry.

Welcoming the application, Social Development Minister McCausland said: “The outline planning application foresees major mixed use development on Fort George, including residential, office, leisure, light industrial, educational, community facilities, convenience retail, cafes and restaurants. It will also include associated multi-storey and surface car parking, landscaping and environmental roads infrastructure.

“This announcement follows extensive pre-application discussions between Ilex, DOE Planning and all relevant statutory agencies in the last six months”.

The outline planning application will pave the way for future full and detailed planning applications for individual developments on site.
