McClean twitter ‘threats’ investigated

A 29 year old Manchester man has been questioned by police in relation to “malicious tweets” sent to Creggan professional footballer, James McClean.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that they: “are aware of a number of malicious tweets made against a Sunderland AFC footballer.”
A spokesperson for GMP said: “To assist their enquiries, a 29-year-old man was (on Friday) interviewed under caution.”
The Sunderland winger received a number of abusive and threatening tweets and messages on social media when he was the only member of the Sunderland team who refused to wear a special Remembrance Day shirt with an embroidered poppy during a game at Goodison Park against Everton in November.
