McGuinness in talks with Brown
Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness was in London yesterday for talks with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown over the transfer of policing and justice powers to local politicians.
It is the second time in the last two weeks that the Sinn Fin leader has discussed the matter with Mr Brown.
First Minister Peter Robinson did not attend yesterday’s meeting at Downing Street with a DUP spokesperson saying they had no record of the visit.
Meanwhile, it is thought the Assembly may sit for a week longer than planned before breaking up for the summer recess after it did not sign off on the June monitoring rounds at last Thursday’s meeting.
It is expected the Executive members could sign off on the monitoring rounds at tomorrow’s meeting, but if not, they will have to meet again the following week.
