Men charged with attempting to inflict GBH

Three men have have appeared in court charged with offences committed in the Groarty Road and Shantallow area of the city earlier this week.

Robert Paul McBride, (32), of 1050 Gortree, Newtowncunningham, Co.Donegal, is charged with a total of 20 offences on February 15.

They include damaging two police cars, dangerous driving, threats to damage property and attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm.

His co-accused 32-year-old David Anthony Kelly and 26-year-old Kevin Barry Harkin, both of no fixed abode, are accused of assaulting and resisting police on the same date.

An investigating officer told Derry Magistrates Court he believed he could connect each of the defendants to the charges.

Defence solicitors for the men said their clients would not be applying for bail at this time.

McBride, Kelly and Harkin were remanded in custody and will appear in court again via videolink on March 8.
