Social Development Minister, Nelson McCausland, has welcomed the completion of a £450,000 Public Realm Scheme at Queen’s Quay.

The Minister viewed the completed works which includes a cycle path, pedestrian walkway, street furniture, planting and lighting during a visit to Derry yesterday and heard, first hand, the positive feedback that has been received regarding the development.

Nelson McCausland said: “The positive responses which are received when schemes such as this at Queen’s Quay are rolled out really serves to justify my Department’s investment. This area of Londonderry forms a key part of this city’s attractions, with its proximity to the Peace Bridge and the city centre.

“I am fully committed to contributing to the ongoing preparations for next year’s UK City of Culture events and the completion of this scheme marks a significant contribution by my Department to the delivery of the overall programme.”

The Queen’s Quay area is described in the Riverside Masterplan as one of the most attractive spaces for events.
