More than 6,000 on Derry dole queue

More than 6,000 people are now signing on in Derry.

The latest government figures released this morning show 8.5% of people of working age are now claiming an unemployment related benefit.

The total number of people out of work in Derry currently stands at 6,046.

Unemployment remains higher in Derry than in all of the other council areas in the North and has risen by 6% over the last year.
