Nailor’s Row parking nightmare

A Derry man whose father is resident in the House in the Wells has said that those people parking along Nailor’s Row are doing so with no consideration for local residents - and that is only a matter of time before there is a fatality in the area.

The man, who asked not to be named, said that during working hours it was “nigh on impossible” for any car to gain access to the street.

His fears are that this could also be the case for any emergency vehicles which may need to access the area, including accessing the House in the Wells.

“Those who park along Nailor’s Row seem to be a law unto themselves,” he said, “They don’t care if anyone can get up and down the road - it’s nearly impossible even in a small car. It wouldn’t be at all possible for an ambulance or fire engine to get down there if they needed to in an emergency.”

The man said the problem seems to be particularly bad when court is in session at Bishop Street courthouse.
