Neo-Nazis in Derry meeting

A neo-Nazi white nationalist political party have again held a recruitment drive in Derry - the second in less than a month.

The British People's Party, the self proclaimed 'most popular white nationalist party' in the North, claim a day of action, held in the Irish Street estate on May 16, has further strengthened their position in the city.

The party's website states: "Local organiser Kyle reported that the day was a great success and that a good response was received from local folk.

"A lot of interest and support has been developed by Kyle and other BPP activists amongst Londonderry's grass-roots Protestants, who oppose the IRA and their numerous offsprings, since the BPP activity in the area earlier this year."

Last month the 'Journal' revealed the BPP, who call for the introduction of a shoot to kill policy for dissident republican suspects, and the expulsion of migrant workers from the North, had carried out a leaflet drop across loyalist communities in the Waterside.

That activity had caused concern among community leaders who said such views were not welcome in loyalist areas.

The BPP have since claimed the 'Journal's' description of the party as "Nazis" was a deliberate campaign to "thwart any potential recruit or supporter with the 'Nazi' bogey."
