No alcohol-related arrests on St Patrick’s Day
Police in Derry have confirmed that no alcohol-related arrests were made in the city on St Patrick’s Day.
A spokesperson for police said that only three arrests were made for public order offences as the city celebrated the Irish patron saint’s day.
More than 15,000 people took to the streets of the city to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Mayor of Derry, Colr Kevin Campbell, paid tribute to all involved in the St Patrick’s Day Spring Carnival for a glorious weekend of creativity, sound and spectacular sights as the annual festivities were celebrated in style all across the city. The ‘All Kinds of Everything’ themed parade included floats and music from group performances involving over 800 community participants.
Colr Campbell said the carnival was “an amazing sight”. “The creativity of the costumes and floats was outstanding and the turnout to watch the parade and enjoy the activity was fantastic.”
