Not guilty of committing lewd act with a horse
After a two day trial at Derry Crown Court, a 64-year-old man has been found not guilty of committing an act of a lewd, obscene and disgusting nature with a horse.
Robert McLaughlin, of Sunnyside Drive, Maghera, went on trial earlier this week after he denied committing the offence on May 17, last year.
The incident was alleged to have occurred in a field owned by the local Riding for Disabled Association.
Judge Stephen Fowler made his charge to the jury on Friday morning and on Friday afternoon after just over two hours of deliberation the jury of seven men and five women returned a verdict of not guilty against McLaughlin.
The main prosecution witness had been a man who said he was accompanied by his 7-year-old daughter when the alleged offence occurred.
