O'Connell publishes 12th book: Theologian may look at 'God is woman' theory
A Derry author's theory that God is actually a woman could be examined by a professional theologian.
In his last book 'God is a Woman and the Future's Female', John O'Connell, issued a challenge to the reader to see God as female.
Now with his new book 'Glad to be Mad' about to go on the shelves, Mr O'Connell said he was pleased that the ideas in his work could soon be examined by the Catholic Church.
St Eugene's administrator Fr Michael Canny yesterday told the 'Journal' that the Bishop of Derry, Dr Seamus Hegarty, is looking for someone "more experienced in such matters" to evaluate the theory.
It is understood the theory could be put under the ecumenical microscope at Maynooth.
The Derry author's newest book, a novel, is the twelfth he has published. It follows Michael, who lives with bi-polar disorder and whose life is dramatically changed by a 100,000 Lottery win.
Mr O'Connell said the implicit message behind his latest work is "that all violence is wrong and that the law of an eye for an eye will lead to the destruction of this planet."
'Glad to be Mad' is available in Easons or online at www.amazon.co.uk
