Pro-life protest in Derry today

A pro-life group is to protest outside a Derry family planning clinic today as part of a Lenten campaign.

The Precious Life group, which was started in Texas, will join thousands of Americans in prayer as it congregates outside the Carlisle Road agency as part of the 40 Days for Life Campaign.

The Family Planning Association (FPA) works in partnership with statutory, voluntary and community organisations throughout Northern Ireland to provide a confidential telephone, postal and drop-in helpline responding to enquiries on reproductive and sexual health.

It provides an award-winning programme of accredited community-based personal development sexual health projects for young people with non-directive, non-judgemental counselling, information and support services for women (and their partners and/or families) who are faced with a crisis pregnancy.

The protest, which is to last throughout Lent, will be held on Wednesday, February 6, from 10.30am at St Columba’s, Long Tower and proceed to the FPA agency in Carlisle Road.
