Public meetings on Strabane's new Master Plan proposals
A public meeting will be held tomorrow on the Strabane Town Centre Regeneration Master Plan proposals.
Tribal Consulting Ltd are hosting the event in the foyer of Strabane Library on Wednesday, 24th June from 12 noon to 7.00pm, designed to allow local people to input to the development process.
The Master plan is focussing on the development of the town centre, identifying regeneration sites and development corridors. Railway Road, Abercorn Square, Market Street and the SCORE site have all been targeted.
Tribal Consulting have also been hosting a number of school-based events. On Monday the team met with representatives from Holy Cross College and Strabane Grammar. Today the consultant team and their graphic displays will move to St Mary’s Girls’ where delegates from Barrack St. Boys’, St. Anne’s Girls’, St Mary’s Boys’ and Strabane PS will give their ideas. This evening the consultants will seek views from the membership of Strabane Youth Council. The roadshow culminates in the event in the foyer of Strabane Library tomorrow, where members of the public and local traders are encouraged to see what is proposed and to take the opportunity to make their views and ideas heard.
The Master Plan exercise was commissioned by the Department for Social Development, Strabane 2000 and Strabane District Council.
Chairman of Strabane District Council, Councillor Kieran McGuire, said it was important that as many people as possible attend the consultation events.
“The public have an opportunity to make their views heard on how Strabane town develops over the next 10 years. We hope that the views of local people will be taken on board in order to shape the future of the town centre.”
