Quigley's Point man dies in Dunoon

The sudden death took place in Dunoon, Scotland of John McLaughlin, son of the late Barney and Peggy McLaughlin, Cruckglass, Quigley's Point.

John was predeceased by his wife Janet just a year ago. Sympathy is extended to his daughters Carol and Gillian, his brothers Brian, Grove Cottages, Muff and Daniel, Quigley's Point. His brother, Eddie died about seven years ago. John had planned to come back for a holiday this summer but unfortunately it was not to be. His burial took place in Duneen. May he rest in peace.

Please keep in mind that Muff Community Development savings plan is now open. This year the plan will run for 44 weeks with proceeds being paid out in November, 2010. This is an excellent way to save with Christmas in mind. The community service is provided by the Development Co-op on a cash neutral basis. The Ceili organised by the GAA cancelled due to weather conditions has now been re-scheduled for Friday, 22nd January in the GAA Centre, Ture with music by the Cottage Ceili Band. Dancing is from 10 p.m. - 1 a.m. and admission is 5 euro including supper.

Station Masses for Lent begin on 17th February. Anyone who would like a Station Mass during Lent should contact Fr. Farren, Keady and Drumacross are already taken.

Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place from July 16th - 21st. Cost is 626 euro payable in instalments. Forms are available in the Parochial House.

Coffee mornings have resumed in Warren View Manor, Muff (Muff Sheltered Housing) on Thursdays from 10.30 a.m. - 12 noon. Do come along to what is proving to be a very enjoyable event, mixing with people and having a chat. These mornings will take place every two weeks.

With the ongoing severe weather conditions most organisations using St. Mary's Community Hall find it difficult to decide when their particular activity will be starting up but the following is a list of some groups who are going ahead next week and also some who have decided to wait until later but if the groups concerned watch press more information about their start-up date will be published.

Monday and Saturday - Youth Club, date not decided. Tuesday and Thursday - Mother & Toddler Group will start (if the schools are open), Tuesday, 19th and Thursday 21st. I.C.A.'s monthly meeting will start on Tuesday, 19th at 8 p.m. Yoga Class will also go ahead on 19th from 7 - 8 p.m. Brigini, Red Cross will start on Wednesday, 20th; Ceili Club starts on Wednesday, 13th; Irish dancing for pleasure starts Thursday, 14th; Drama class already started Friday 4 - 5 p.m.; Bingo as usual tomorrow night at 9.15 p.m. Your continued support is appreciated.

Naomh Padraig GAA numbers drawn in this week's lotto were 2, 3, 6, 7, 1, 4, 5 - no jackpot winner. Five runners-up prizes of 20 euro - Gary McKinney, Deborah McLaughlin, Sean Brennan, Bill Leahy and Eileen and Tommy. Next week's jackpot will be 1,400 euro. The AGM takes place in the Clubhouse on Sunday at 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to have their say in the running of the club or to find out more information about your local GAA club.

The re-arranged Underage Presentation takes place in the Clubhouse on Sunday, 24th January at 4.30 p.m. The Dinner Dance also takes place on Friday, 4th February in the Redcastle Hotel with tickets priced at 20 euro.
