Railway museum is full steam ahead!

The Foyle Valley Railway Museum is now open for the summer months for family trips and tours.

The museum, on Foyle Road, is set to reopen as a visitor attraction for July and August as part of a pilot-scheme approved by members of Derry City Council’s Development Committee.

The Museum will be open from 10am to 4.30pm and admission is free.

Maintenance work has been ongoing to ensure the building meets all health and safety requirements, and to ensure all remedial maintenance work will be complete prior to the reopening.

The museum services summer opening hours are: Tower Museum, Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 11am to 3pm. The Harbour Museum, Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and the Workhouse Museum, Monday to Thursday and Saturday, from 10am to 5pm.

A spokesperson for Derry City Council said plans for the museum include the provision of a play area for children and the installation of an exhibition entitled ‘Come Back To Erin’.
