Police have confirmed that they are investigating a report that a male plunged from Foyle Bridge this morning.
Searches of the River Foyle are currently being carried and an Irish Coastguard helicopter has been tasked to the scene.
The Coastguard confirmed that it received a report that a male may have plunged from Foyle Bridge shortly after 7.30am.
A spokesperson for the police said: “Police are attending the report of a body in the water in the River Foyle. Searches of the river are being carried out. There are no further details available at this stage.”
Meanwhile, the cross-border river search continues for missing Dublin teenager Kieran McKeon (18), who has been missing since he left a city centre hotel in Derry in the early hours of last Thursday morning.
Mr McKeon had travelled to Derry with Alexandra O’Brien (21) on Wednesday after they left the St John of God hospital in Stillorgan, Dublin.
Ms O’Brien’s body was found in the River Foyle on Thursday evening during a search operation launched after some of her belongings were found at Foyle Bridge earlier that day.
