Security alert hoaxers have same mentality as flag protestors - SF MP

Strabane’s MP has questioned the mentality of those responsible for yesterday’s security alert in the town.

Much of Strabane was brought to a standstill by the alert - last night declared a hoax by the PSNI - at Bradley Way.

Sinn Fein MP Pat Doherty said those behind it show the same lack of concern for the wider community as those who continue to block roads with flag protests.

“At a time when people are experiencing enough traffic chaos and inconvenience through these so-called union flag protests someone in this area thought it a bright idea to bring the same traffic chaos and major inconvenience to Strabane for much of yesterday through with this elaborate hoax,” he said.

“The mentality which governs all these actions is the same denial of reality that times have changed and that there is no will within either community to turn the clock back.”
